Description

This Brie Apple and Fig Crostini Appetizer is a simple yet elegant dish perfect for fall gatherings. With creamy brie, crisp apple slices, and sweet fig jam on top of golden toasted baguette slices, it’s an easy-to-make appetizer that’s full of texture and flavor. Ideal for parties, holidays, or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette: sliced to create the crostini base (about 20 slices)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil: for brushing the bread slices before toasting
  • 8 ounces brie cheese: sliced to fit the crostini
  • 1 medium apple (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp): thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup fig jam: provides natural sweetness and depth of flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt: used in brine to prevent apples from browning
  • 2 cups water: for the apple-soaking brine

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch slices, cutting on the diagonal if desired for larger pieces.
  3. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and brush or spray lightly with olive oil.
  4. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until golden around the edges. Let cool slightly.
  5. Slice the apple thinly. Mix 1 teaspoon of salt with 2 cups of water and soak the apple slices for 10 minutes. Rinse and pat dry.
  6. Place a slice of brie on each toasted baguette slice.
  7. Add a small dollop of fig jam (about 1/2 teaspoon) on top of the brie.
  8. Top each crostini with a slice of apple.
  9. Serve immediately or let sit at room temperature until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use crisp apple varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
  • Don’t overload with fig jam to avoid messiness.
  • The crostini bases can be prepared a few hours ahead of time.
  • Use gluten-free bread to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Assemble just before serving for optimal crunch and freshness.
