Description
Creamy Ranch Chicken is an easy and delicious skillet meal featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a rich, creamy Ranch seasoning sauce. This comfort food is perfect for busy weeknights and pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- 10.5 oz. can of cream of chicken soup
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 cup sour cream, at room temperature
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 oz. packet Ranch seasoning mix
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts into 2-3 thinner slices, about ½ inch thick. Season both sides with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Brush one side of each piece with melted butter. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the cream of chicken soup, milk, sour cream, onion powder, and Ranch seasoning mix. Stir and let it bubble gently for about 5 minutes.
- Add the chicken back to the pan and spoon the sauce over it. Cover partially and simmer for 10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or vegetables with extra sauce spooned over the top.
Notes
- Be sure to use Ranch seasoning mix, not Ranch dip mix, as they are different in flavor and texture.
- For a richer flavor, sprinkle crispy bacon and shredded cheese over the chicken before serving.
- This recipe can be made with chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts for a more flavorful and tender option.
- If using smaller chicken breasts, consider using 3-4 pieces instead of 2 large ones.
- Frozen vegetables can be added directly to the sauce during cooking for added convenience.
