Description

This easy Philly Cheesesteak Pasta recipe combines tender beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and a creamy cheese sauce for a quick and hearty dinner perfect for beginners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or steak strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 12 oz penne or rigatoni pasta
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside without rinsing.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced green bell pepper and onion; sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Add ground beef or steak strips to the skillet. Cook until the meat is fully browned, breaking it up as needed. Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Lower the heat and stir in softened cream cheese. Once it starts melting, slowly add beef broth, stirring constantly until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.
  5. Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese over the top and broil for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Remove from oven, let rest briefly, and serve hot with optional fresh parsley or parmesan garnish.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Swap green bell pepper for red or yellow for a sweeter flavor.
  • For a spicier dish, add jalapeños or red pepper flakes while cooking the vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of broth to refresh the sauce.
