Description
A quick, comforting beef and noodles recipe featuring lean ground beef, egg noodles, and a savory homemade gravy. Perfect for busy weeknights and beginner cooks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups uncooked egg noodles
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook egg noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft, about 8–10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Scrape up browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Continue to cook the mixture for 5–8 minutes until the gravy thickens to desired consistency. Add more broth if needed.
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat in the beef and gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.
Notes
- Use frozen chopped onions and pre-minced garlic to speed up prep time.
- Add vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers for extra nutrition and flavor.
- If gravy is too thick, add a splash of broth; if too thin, simmer longer.
- Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner protein alternative.
