Description

These easy French dip sliders are made with roast beef, caramelized onions, provolone cheese, and a savory au jus sauce. A quick, delicious meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter
  • Onion
  • Thyme
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet rolls
  • Provolone cheese
  • Roast beef
  • Dried onion soup mix
  • Au jus gravy mix
  • Water
  • Parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook for 12-15 minutes until soft and browned, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add thyme, salt, and pepper to the onions, stir well, and set aside.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the rolls across horizontally and place the bottom halves, cut side up, in a 11×7-inch baking dish.
  4. Top the rolls with half of the provolone cheese, followed by the roast beef. Add the caramelized onions and spread evenly. Place the remaining cheese on top.
  5. Cover the top of the rolls with the other halves. Mix melted butter with onion soup mix and pour or brush the mixture evenly over the sliders.
  6. Cover the dish loosely with foil, ensuring the foil does not touch the tops of the rolls. Bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until the rolls are golden brown.
  8. While the sliders bake, prepare the au jus according to the package instructions. Serve the sliders with au jus for dipping and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use any roast beef you prefer—deli slices or leftovers work well.
  • If the onions cook too fast or burn, lower the heat and stir more frequently.
  • To avoid soggy sliders, do not over-saturate the rolls with the butter mixture.
  • These sliders can be made ahead and baked later, making them perfect for busy days.
