Description

These ham and cheese sliders are a quick and easy meal perfect for weeknights, parties, or casual gatherings. Soft Hawaiian rolls are layered with savory ham and melty cheese, then brushed with a flavorful buttery glaze for a crisp, golden finish. Perfect for beginners, this simple recipe delivers big flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • ¾ lb sliced ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese (or cheddar, provolone, mozzarella)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish to prevent the sliders from sticking.
  2. Slice the rolls: Keeping the rolls connected, slice them in half horizontally and place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer the ham and cheese: Evenly distribute the sliced ham over the bottom rolls, ensuring every bite has a generous amount. Lay the cheese slices on top of the ham, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  4. Assemble the sliders: Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese, completing the sandwich layers.
  5. Prepare the butter glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until fully combined.
  6. Coat the sliders: Using a pastry brush or spoon, spread the butter mixture evenly over the top of the sliders. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top for added crunch and visual appeal.
  7. Bake covered: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the flavors to combine.
  8. Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for another 5–10 minutes until the tops are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  9. Cool and serve: Let the sliders rest for a few minutes before slicing them apart. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you prefer extra crispy sliders, bake them uncovered for the entire time.
  • Swap Swiss cheese for pepper jack if you want a little spice.
  • Make these ahead by assembling the sliders and refrigerating them before baking.
