Description

A creamy and comforting one-pan homemade beef stroganoff that’s perfect for beginners. Made with ground beef, egg noodles, and a tangy sour cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (if needed)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, increase heat to medium-high, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
  4. Stir in paprika and flour (if using), then cook for 1 more minute.
  5. Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Add egg noodles and stir to combine.
  6. Cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in Worcestershire sauce and sour cream. Mix until creamy and well combined.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease.
  • Greek yogurt can be used in place of sour cream for a lighter option.
  • Smoked paprika adds extra depth of flavor if available.
  • To thicken sauce, use flour or a cornstarch slurry.
  • Add a splash of broth when reheating leftovers to restore creaminess.
