Description

Italian Grinder Sliders are a delicious mini version of the classic grinder sandwich. These sliders are made with layers of deli meats, melted provolone cheese, and a flavorful garlic parmesan glaze. Topped with a tangy grinder salad, they are the perfect bite-sized meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 8 ounces ham, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 3 ounces thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 3 ounces thinly sliced salami
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for glaze)
  • 8 ounces shredded lettuce (for salad topping)
  • 1/2 cup diced tomato (for salad topping)
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers (for salad topping)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (for salad dressing)
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar (for salad dressing)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (for salad dressing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for salad dressing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper (for salad dressing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for salad dressing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F (175˚C).
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally and place the bottoms in a baking dish.
  3. Layer provolone cheese on the bottom of the rolls. Add sliced ham, pepperoni, and salami on top.
  4. Place the tops of the rolls back on the sliders, cutting through the rolls to make individual sliders.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, grated parmesan, garlic powder, and salt to make the glaze.
  6. Brush the garlic parmesan glaze generously over the tops of the rolls.
  7. Bake the sliders for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
  8. While the sliders bake, make the grinder salad by mixing mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  9. Toss the lettuce, tomatoes, and pepperoncini peppers with the dressing.
  10. Once the sliders are done baking, remove the tops, add a generous portion of the grinder salad, and replace the tops. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, add the grinder salad just before serving to prevent the bread from getting soggy.
  • You can prepare the sliders in advance up to the point of baking and refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • Try substituting the deli meats with turkey or roast beef for a different flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add jalapeños or banana peppers to the grinder salad.
