Description

Knock You Naked Bars are rich, gooey dessert bars layered with cookie dough, melted caramel, chocolate chips, and pecans—perfect for beginners and always a crowd-pleaser.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 bag (14 oz) caramels
  • 5 oz evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips and pecans if using.
  6. Spread half of the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 8–10 minutes until just set.
  7. Meanwhile, melt caramels with evaporated milk in a double boiler or saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Stir in peanut butter.
  8. Pour the caramel mixture over the baked cookie base and spread evenly.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel and gently spread to cover.
  10. Bake for 15–20 more minutes until the top is golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool completely in the pan, then lift out using parchment and cut into squares.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleaner cuts.
  • Don’t overbake to maintain a gooey center.
  • Chill dough slightly for easier handling.
  • You can substitute caramel sauce if it’s thick enough.
  • Omit nuts for a nut-free version.
