Description

This Nectarine Brown Sugar Crisp is a simple and delicious dessert made with ripe nectarines or peaches, topped with a buttery brown sugar oat crumble. Perfect for any occasion, it pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Nectarines or Peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3/4 cup Oats
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 8 Tablespoons Cold Butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced nectarines with sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
  3. In a small bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and sugar. Cut in the cold butter using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, with some chunks of butter still visible.
  4. Spread the fruit mixture into a 9-inch baking dish.
  5. Top the fruit with the brown sugar oat crumble, covering it evenly.
  6. Bake for 24-32 minutes or until the topping is golden and bubbling. If the topping starts to brown too much, cover it loosely with foil.
  7. Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with vanilla bean ice cream and enjoy!

Notes

  • If using frozen nectarines, be sure to thaw and drain any excess liquid before using.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • If you prefer, you can add chopped nuts like almonds or walnuts to the crumble topping for extra crunch.
  • This dessert can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking. Simply bake when ready to serve.
