Description

This NO BAKE BANANA PUDDING DESSERT is a creamy, layered treat made with instant vanilla pudding, fresh banana slices, whipped topping, and crunchy vanilla wafers. It’s an easy no-bake dessert that comes together fast and chills into a cool, crowd-pleasing classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix (family size)
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz) tub whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), divided
  • 3 large bananas, sliced (about 1/2-inch thick)
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafer cookies (such as Nilla Wafers), divided

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients. You will need a large mixing bowl, a whisk, a spoon or spatula, and a 9×13-inch dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk until smooth and thickened, with no lumps.
  3. Whisk in half of the whipped topping (about 4 oz) until the pudding mixture is creamy and well combined.
  4. Set aside 6 vanilla wafer cookies for topping. Arrange the remaining cookies in an even layer across the bottom of the 9×13-inch dish.
  5. Add a single layer of sliced bananas over the cookies.
  6. Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the bananas and spread it evenly with the back of a spoon or a spatula.
  7. Repeat the layers with remaining cookies, remaining banana slices, and the remaining pudding mixture, spreading evenly.
  8. Spread the remaining whipped topping (about 4 oz) over the top as the final layer.
  9. Crush the reserved cookies and sprinkle them over the top. If desired, garnish with a few extra banana slices right before serving.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) until chilled and set. Serve cold.

Notes

  • Use instant pudding mix (not cook-and-serve) so the pudding thickens without heating.
  • Slice bananas just before assembling to reduce browning.
  • For extra creamy texture, use whole milk; for a lighter option, use 2% milk.
  • Chilling overnight makes the layers softer and more cohesive.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for best texture and flavor.
