Description

Oreo Dirt Cake is a creamy, no-bake dessert featuring layers of crushed Oreos, sweetened cream cheese, and vanilla pudding blended with whipped topping. This simple yet indulgent dessert is perfect for parties, potlucks, and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 1 block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 container whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they turn into fine crumbs. Alternatively, place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Reserve some crumbs for topping.
  2. Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. This helps create a rich and velvety texture for the filling.
  3. Make the pudding mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until thickened. Let it sit for a few minutes so the pudding sets properly.
  4. Combine the layers: Gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully combined. Then, add the cream cheese mixture and mix until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Assemble the dessert: In a serving dish or trifle bowl, start with a layer of crushed Oreos, followed by a layer of the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of crushed Oreos on top.
  6. Chill before serving: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.

Notes

  • For a kid-friendly version, add gummy worms on top to create a fun “dirt and worms” effect.
  • To lighten up the dessert, use reduced-fat cream cheese and sugar-free pudding mix.
  • This dessert can be served in individual cups for easy portioning at parties.
