Description

Inspired by the famous Angelina Café in Paris, this Paris Hot Chocolate is a rich, thick, and luxurious drink made with real dark chocolate, cream, and a hint of espresso. It’s the perfect cozy treat for chocolate lovers craving a decadent, café-style hot chocolate at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup milk (180g)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240g)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp espresso powder
  • 8 oz good quality dark chocolate (226g), chopped (60–70% cocoa)

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, cream, powdered sugar, espresso powder, and chopped dark chocolate in a nonstick saucepan.
  2. Place over medium-low heat and stir constantly with a spatula.
  3. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture begins to boil and thicken slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and pour into mugs.
  5. Serve immediately, ideally with whipped cream and a croissant for the full Parisian experience.

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • For a thinner consistency, add more milk.
  • Espresso powder enhances the chocolate flavor without adding a coffee taste.
  • Reheat gently on the stovetop if making ahead.
  • Make it dairy-free by using plant-based milk, cream, and vegan chocolate.
