Description

Red White and Blue Cookies With M&Ms are soft, chewy, and bursting with colorful chocolate candies, perfect for patriotic holidays, family gatherings, or festive celebrations.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour (2 1/4 cups): Provides structure and a soft, tender crumb
  • Baking powder (1 tsp): Helps cookies rise and become fluffy
  • Baking soda (1/2 tsp): Ensures even leavening for a perfect texture
  • Salt (1/2 tsp): Enhances flavor and balances sweetness
  • Unsalted butter (1 cup / 2 sticks, softened): Adds richness and creamy texture
  • Granulated sugar (3/4 cup): Sweetens and contributes to slight crispiness
  • Brown sugar (3/4 cup, packed): Adds depth of flavor and chewiness
  • Eggs (2 large): Bind ingredients and create a moist texture
  • Vanilla extract (1 tsp): Infuses warm, aromatic flavor
  • Red, white, and blue M&Ms (1 1/2 cups): Adds vibrant color and chocolatey taste
  • Optional white chocolate chips (1/2 cup): Adds extra sweetness and creamy texture

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually fold in the flour mixture until a soft dough forms, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the red, white, and blue M&Ms, and optional white chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden while centers remain soft, rotating the sheet halfway through.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and chewy.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if too soft to maintain shape.
  • Press extra M&Ms on top for more vibrant appearance.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep cookies fresh up to one week.
  • Prepare dough ahead of time: refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months.
