Description
This homemade strawberry sorbet is a quick, healthy, and refreshing frozen dessert, made with just a few simple ingredients like fresh or frozen strawberries, sweetener, and lemon juice. It’s perfect for cooling off on a hot day or serving as a light, fruity dessert after a meal. The recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free, and customizable to suit various dietary preferences.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups strawberries (frozen or fresh)
- 1/4 cup sweetener (maple syrup, sugar, agave, or xylitol)
- 2 tsp lemon juice (or zest of 1 lemon)
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- If using fresh strawberries, wash and remove stems, then freeze the strawberries. If using frozen strawberries, skip this step.
- Place frozen strawberries, sweetener, lemon juice, and salt (optional) into a high-speed blender or food processor.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, let the strawberries thaw slightly before blending.
- For a firmer sorbet, you can transfer the mixture to the freezer to harden further or use an ice cream machine to churn it until smooth and frosty.
- Serve immediately for a soft texture or freeze for later and allow to soften before serving.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, add coconut milk or a ripe banana.
- Use sugar-free sweeteners like xylitol for a keto version.
- For best results, serve the sorbet the same day it is made.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to three months.
- Feel free to add toppings like chocolate ganache, mini chocolate chips, or diced strawberries.
