Description
This Strawberry Tiramisu is a refreshing twist on the classic Italian dessert, using fresh strawberries and orange liqueur instead of the traditional coffee and cocoa. Perfect for summer gatherings, it’s a light, creamy, and fruity dessert that’s both easy to make and indulgent in flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 Tbsp orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
- 1 Tbsp orange juice
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
- ¼ cup strawberry preserves
- 4 egg yolks
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for the egg yolk mixture)
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1 Tbsp orange zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
Instructions
- Combine sliced strawberries, orange liqueur, orange juice, and sugar in a bowl. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.
- Puree half of the strawberry mixture with the strawberry preserves in a food processor, then mix it back with the rest of the strawberries.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
- In another bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form, then fold in mascarpone cheese, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
- Gently fold the whipped mascarpone mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
- Spread ⅔ cup of the strawberry puree on the bottom of an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Place a layer of ladyfingers in the pan, ensuring they are coated with the strawberry puree.
- Top the ladyfingers with 1 cup of the mascarpone mixture.
- Repeat the layers of strawberry puree, ladyfingers, and mascarpone, ending with mascarpone on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Before serving, garnish with fresh sliced strawberries.
Notes
- Ensure you use the dry version of ladyfingers for best absorption of the strawberry mixture.
- If using frozen strawberries, thaw and drain them first to avoid excess liquid.
- For a non-alcoholic version, you can substitute the orange liqueur with extra orange juice or lemon juice.
- This dessert benefits from resting overnight in the fridge to allow the flavors to meld.
