Description
Loaded Tater Tot Cups are a fun, bite-sized appetizer made with crispy tater tots, melted cheese, bacon, and sour cream—perfect for parties or game day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 48–60 frozen tater tots (16-oz bag)
- 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced (green part only)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450ºF and spray muffin pan cups with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place 4-5 tater tots in each regular-sized muffin cup or 2-3 in mini muffin cups.
- Bake on the bottom oven rack for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
- Use the bottom of a shot glass or juice glass to press the softened tots into cup shapes, twisting gently to form a well.
- Return the muffin pan to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes until deep golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from oven and fill each potato cup with about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese.
- Bake for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with sour cream, crumbled bacon, and sliced green onions. Serve warm.
Notes
- Prepare the cups ahead of time and reheat before serving to save prep time during parties.
- Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier option.
- Mini muffin tins will require fewer tots per cup and shorter cooking times.
- Air fryer instructions: Cook tots at 400ºF for 10–12 minutes, then proceed with filling and toppings.
