Description

This 4th of July Fruit Salad is a quick, easy, and refreshing patriotic dish made with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and a honey lime dressing. Perfect for summer cookouts, backyard BBQs, and Independence Day celebrations, it’s colorful, healthy, and kid-friendly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz strawberries, cleaned and halved: Provide sweetness, juicy texture, and the festive red color.
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries, rinsed: Add bursts of flavor and the patriotic blue color.
  • 3 medium bananas, sliced into thick chunks: Contribute creamy texture and the white element of the salad.
  • 1/8 cup honey (2 tablespoons): Naturally sweetens the fruit and creates the light glaze.
  • 1 fresh lime, juiced (about 2 tablespoons lime juice): Adds bright citrus flavor that balances the sweetness.

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the fruit by cleaning 16 oz of strawberries, rinsing 1 pint of blueberries, and slicing 3 bananas into thick chunks.
  2. Place the strawberries, blueberries, and bananas into a large serving bowl. Gently toss to combine.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/8 cup honey and the juice from 1 fresh lime until smooth. For extra juice, microwave the lime for 10 seconds before squeezing.
  4. Drizzle the honey lime dressing evenly over the fruit and gently fold until all the fruit is lightly coated.
  5. Serve immediately for the freshest flavor, or refrigerate for a short time before serving.

Notes

  • Add the bananas just before serving to prevent browning.
  • If preparing ahead, toss banana slices with a small amount of lemon juice and drain before mixing.
  • Fresh fruit is recommended, as frozen fruit can release excess moisture.
  • Adjust the amount of honey depending on the sweetness of your fruit.
  • For variations, add mini marshmallows, fresh mint, or transform the salad into a cheesecake version using softened cream cheese and creamer.
