Description

Blueberry Cherry Tomato Caprese Salad is a fresh and vibrant summer salad made with juicy blueberries, cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic glaze. This easy no-cook recipe delivers a sweet and savory balance, making it perfect for lunches, picnics, gatherings, or a light side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls (bocconcini), drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest or 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the blueberries to prevent excess moisture in the salad.
  2. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and cut them in halves if large for easier eating and better flavor distribution.
  3. Drain the mozzarella pearls and gently pat dry with a paper towel to avoid excess liquid.
  4. Tear the fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces for stronger aroma and fresher flavor.
  5. Add blueberries, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella pearls, and basil to a large mixing bowl.
  6. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the ingredients.
  7. Add balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar gradually and toss gently to combine.
  8. Season with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  9. Add lemon zest or lemon juice if desired for extra brightness.
  10. Drizzle honey or maple syrup if blueberries are tart and a sweeter balance is preferred.
  11. Gently toss until all ingredients are lightly coated without crushing the fruit or mozzarella.
  12. Allow the salad to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving and garnish with extra basil if desired.

Notes

  • Use ripe, fresh blueberries and room-temperature cherry tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • Fresh mozzarella pearls work best, but burrata or sliced mozzarella may be substituted.
  • Add basil just before serving to maintain freshness and color.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 day in the refrigerator.
  • For make-ahead preparation, keep dressing separate and combine just before serving.
  • To add texture, sprinkle toasted pine nuts, pistachios, or walnuts before serving.
