Description
Chocolate glazed donuts are the perfect treat, offering a light, fluffy texture with a rich, velvety chocolate glaze. This simple recipe allows you to make donuts that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, all with minimal ingredients and effort.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Instant yeast
- 1 tsp Salt
- 4 tbsp Unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 7 fl oz Water
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until it becomes bubbly.
- Mix eggs, salt, and flour into the activated yeast mixture and stir to form a rough dough.
- Add butter in small cubes and knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Proof the dough in a warm spot, covering it with a damp towel for 20-30 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Roll the dough onto a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out the donut shapes using a biscuit cutter, and a smaller cutter for the hole.
- Let the donuts proof for another 20 minutes on a baking tray.
- Heat the oil to 356°F (180°C) and fry the donuts in small batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Prepare the chocolate glaze by melting chocolate and coconut oil together. Stir until smooth.
- Dunk each donut into the glaze, coating it evenly, and set aside to cool.
Notes
- If you’re using all-purpose flour, the donuts may be slightly denser than if you use ’00’ flour.
- Ensure the oil temperature is at 356°F (180°C) for the perfect crispy golden-brown exterior.
- For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of coconut oil in the chocolate mixture.
