Description

Chocolate glazed donuts are the perfect treat, offering a light, fluffy texture with a rich, velvety chocolate glaze. This simple recipe allows you to make donuts that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, all with minimal ingredients and effort.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Instant yeast
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 7 fl oz Water

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until it becomes bubbly.
  2. Mix eggs, salt, and flour into the activated yeast mixture and stir to form a rough dough.
  3. Add butter in small cubes and knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Proof the dough in a warm spot, covering it with a damp towel for 20-30 minutes until it doubles in size.
  5. Roll the dough onto a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out the donut shapes using a biscuit cutter, and a smaller cutter for the hole.
  6. Let the donuts proof for another 20 minutes on a baking tray.
  7. Heat the oil to 356°F (180°C) and fry the donuts in small batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the chocolate glaze by melting chocolate and coconut oil together. Stir until smooth.
  9. Dunk each donut into the glaze, coating it evenly, and set aside to cool.

Notes

  • If you’re using all-purpose flour, the donuts may be slightly denser than if you use ’00’ flour.
  • Ensure the oil temperature is at 356°F (180°C) for the perfect crispy golden-brown exterior.
  • For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of coconut oil in the chocolate mixture.
