Description

A warm and comforting Cinnamon Apple Cobbler made with fresh apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon, baked in a soft, cake-like batter. Perfect for fall gatherings or cozy nights in, this easy dessert is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 Apples: Provide sweet-tart flavor and texture
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar: Adds depth and caramel notes
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon: Infuses warm spice throughout
  • 6 Tbsp Butter: Adds richness and helps create a golden crust
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract: Enhances overall flavor with a subtle aroma
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour: Forms the cake-like cobbler base
  • 1/2 cup White Sugar: Sweetens the batter
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder: Leavens the batter for a light texture
  • 3/4 cup Milk: Creates a smooth, pourable batter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash, peel, core, and slice the apples into 1-inch thick slices.
  3. In a large bowl, toss apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Place butter in a 2½-quart baking dish and melt it in the oven for about 3 minutes.
  5. Remove the dish from the oven and add the apple mixture to the melted butter.
  6. Return the dish to the oven and bake for 10 minutes to soften the apples.
  7. While the apples bake, prepare the batter by mixing flour, white sugar, baking powder, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  8. Carefully pour the batter over the apple mixture in the baking dish without stirring.
  9. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Let the cobbler cool for 15–20 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to avoid a mushy texture.
  • If using juicier apples like Honeycrisp, add 2 Tbsp extra flour to the batter.
  • Avoid stirring after pouring batter over the apples to preserve the cobbler texture.
  • This recipe is best served warm and fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
