Description

These Cranberry Bars are the perfect dessert, combining a buttery crust, a tangy cranberry filling, and a crumbly streusel topping. They are easy to make and perfect for using leftover cranberry sauce, but so delicious that you’ll want to make fresh cranberry sauce just to enjoy these bars. They make a great dessert or snack for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper, letting it overhang the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Stir in flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Spread half of the crumbly mixture onto the bottom of the prepared pan and press down firmly to form the crust.
  4. Spread the cranberry sauce evenly over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture over the cranberry sauce, creating a streusel topping.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Check doneness: The bars should have a golden brown crust and the filling should be set.
  • Storage: These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Gluten-free: You can substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend to make these bars gluten-free.
  • Vegan option: Swap the butter with vegan butter for a dairy-free version of this recipe.
