Description

Cranberry Turkey Stuffing Balls are a festive and delicious holiday appetizer. With lean ground turkey, savory stuffing, and a touch of cranberries, these meatballs are perfect for Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or any holiday gathering. They are easy to prepare, freezer-friendly, and full of flavor, making them an ideal addition to any holiday menu.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ lb. mushrooms, finely chopped (about 3 cups)
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped (about ½ large onion)
  • ½ cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1 lb. ground turkey breast
  • ½ cup coarsely ground cornmeal or dry cornbread stuffing
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a sheet pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil.
  2. In a food processor, finely chop the mushrooms, onion, and celery. The finer the chop, the better the texture of the meatballs.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped vegetables, cranberries, egg, cornbread stuffing, and all seasonings (poultry seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper). Mix thoroughly.
  4. Use a meatball scoop or melon baller to form the mixture into 1½ inch meatballs. Place them on the prepared sheet pan, ensuring they are spaced about 1 inch apart.
  5. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer.
  6. Serve warm with cranberry sauce or your favorite dipping sauce. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Finely chop the vegetables for a smooth, moist texture and better flavor integration.
  • Use a meatball scoop for consistent sizes, ensuring even cooking.
  • Spread the meatballs at least 1 inch apart on the pan to ensure they brown evenly.
  • If making ahead, freeze the meatballs after baking and reheat when needed.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or cornmeal.
