Description

Moist banana bread filled with a tangy Cream Cheese filled Banana Bread With Cinnamon Streusel. A beginner-friendly twist on the classic loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • For the streusel topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth with a few lumps.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon until smooth and creamy.
  4. In the banana bowl, add melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda, then gently fold into the wet ingredients. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour half of the banana batter into the loaf pan, then spread the cream cheese filling evenly over it. Top with the remaining batter.
  7. Mix streusel topping ingredients (flour, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon) in a small bowl until crumbly. Sprinkle generously over the top of the loaf.
  8. Bake for 60–70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • If the streusel browns too quickly, cover the loaf loosely with foil halfway through baking.
  • You can substitute plant-based butter and vegan cream cheese for a dairy-free version.
  • Wrap and freeze individual slices for up to 3 months for easy future snacks.
  • Add nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.
