Description
These crispy ground beef tacos are the perfect beginner-friendly weeknight dinner—simple, flavorful, and ready in under 30 minutes with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- Ground beef – savory, protein-rich base
- Taco seasoning – adds bold, classic taco flavor
- Shredded cheese – melts into the filling for creamy richness
- Small flour or corn tortillas – crisp up to hold the filling
- Neutral oil (canola or avocado) – used for pan-frying
- Optional: diced onions, bell peppers, black beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add taco seasoning and a few tablespoons of water to the skillet. Stir to combine and simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
- Warm tortillas in the microwave for 10–15 seconds to make them flexible.
- Spoon beef mixture and shredded cheese onto one half of each tortilla. Fold in half and press gently to seal.
- Wipe the skillet clean, add a thin layer of oil, and heat over medium. Cook tacos on each side for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- If tacos brown too quickly, reduce the heat slightly.
- Secure tacos with toothpicks if they pop open in the pan—remove before eating.
- Prep ingredients in advance for faster assembly.
- Use a wire rack for cooling to maintain crispiness.
- For a vegetarian option, swap meat with lentils or beans.
