Description

Festive Crinkle Cookies are vibrant, chewy treats with a refreshing peppermint flavor. These cookies feature a bright green color and are topped with sweet red heart candies, making them the perfect addition to any holiday celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Few drops of green food coloring
  • Extra sugar for rolling
  • Red heart-shaped candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract, and beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until the dough comes together.
  6. Stir in the green food coloring until the dough reaches a vibrant green hue.
  7. Scoop out small portions of dough, rolling them into balls. Roll the dough balls in sugar to coat.
  8. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Press a red heart candy into the center of each dough ball.
  9. Bake for 8 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the center is still slightly soft.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • To make the cookies ahead of time, prepare the dough and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • To prevent overbaking, remove cookies when the edges are golden, but the center remains soft.
  • For added moisture, store cookies with a slice of bread inside the container.
