Description
French Dip Biscuits are flaky, golden biscuits stuffed with savory roast beef and melted provolone cheese, brushed with seasoned butter and served with warm au jus for dipping. This easy comfort food recipe turns a classic French dip sandwich into a simple, crowd-pleasing baked dish.
Ingredients
- Refrigerated biscuit dough (1 can, 16 oz): forms the flaky, buttery base
- Deli roast beef (8 oz, thinly sliced): provides savory, tender filling
- Provolone cheese (6 slices): melts smoothly and adds creamy richness
- Butter (4 tbsp, melted): adds flavor and helps biscuits brown
- Onion soup mix (1 packet, about 1 oz): seasons the biscuits with savory depth
- Beef broth (1 cup): used for the au jus dipping sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Separate the biscuit dough and cut each biscuit in half. Flatten slightly.
- Place a small amount of roast beef and a piece of provolone cheese between two biscuit halves. Seal the edges gently.
- Arrange the stuffed biscuits seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
- Mix the melted butter with the onion soup mix and brush evenly over the biscuits.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- While baking, heat the beef broth in a small saucepan until warm.
- Serve the biscuits warm with the beef broth on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Do not overfill the biscuits to prevent them from opening during baking.
- Swiss cheese can be used instead of provolone for a stronger flavor.
- Cover loosely with foil if biscuits brown too quickly.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for best texture.
