Description
Fresh Blueberry Crisp is a classic baked fruit dessert made with sweet, juicy fresh blueberries and topped with a buttery golden crumble. Simple to prepare with everyday ingredients, this comforting dessert is perfect for summer gatherings, family dinners, or serving warm with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
- 12 ounces fresh blueberries
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 1-quart baking dish with the softened butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the fresh blueberries, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and cinnamon. Toss gently until the berries are evenly coated.
- Transfer the blueberry mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add the melted butter and mix with a fork or your fingertips until coarse crumbs form.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blueberry filling.
- Finish by sprinkling the remaining tablespoon of granulated sugar over the topping.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blueberry filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let the crisp cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt.
Notes
- Frozen blueberries can be substituted without thawing first.
- Place the baking dish on a baking sheet to catch any bubbling overflow.
- Allow the crisp to cool before serving so the filling thickens properly.
- Add chopped pecans or rolled oats to the topping for extra texture.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freeze the baked crisp for up to 3 months and reheat before serving.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or freshly whipped cream for the best flavor.
