Description

Garlic Parmesan Sweet Potato Wedges are a crispy, savory snack that combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with the bold flavors of garlic and Parmesan cheese. These wedges are roasted to perfection, making them a healthier alternative to regular fries while packing in essential nutrients like fiber, vitamins A and C, and antioxidants.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, washed and cut into wedges
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (for heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly. Cut them into wedges about 1 inch wide.
  3. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine.
  4. Place the sweet potato wedges in a large mixing bowl and toss them with the olive oil mixture until fully coated.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the seasoned wedges, tossing again to ensure the cheese is evenly distributed.
  6. Spread the wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them for even cooking.
  7. Bake the wedges in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness. The wedges should be golden brown and crispy when done.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese over the hot wedges. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, make sure the wedges are spaced apart on the baking sheet, allowing the heat to circulate around them.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mixture.
  • These wedges can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning levels based on your preferences, especially with the garlic and spices.
