Description

Grilled chicken breast is a quick, healthy, and flavorful recipe that guarantees juicy, tender chicken with a delicious marinade. Perfect for a summer barbecue or a weeknight dinner, this recipe brings out the best in chicken breasts with simple ingredients and easy grilling steps.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken to an even thickness of ½ to ¾ inch using a meat mallet or rolling pin. Place the chicken in a large zip-lock bag.
  2. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  3. Pour the marinade over the chicken in the bag. Seal the bag, remove excess air, and massage the marinade into the chicken. Refrigerate for 4-12 hours.
  4. Preheat the grill to high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
  5. Grill the chicken for 2-4 minutes per side, covered, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a quicker marinade, you can let the chicken sit in the marinade for just 20 minutes.
  • Ensure the chicken is pounded evenly for consistent cooking.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken.
  • If you’re using an indoor grill, the grilling time may be slightly longer (6-8 minutes per side).
  • You can freeze the marinated chicken for up to 3 months. Thaw fully before grilling.
