Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces mozzarella Ciligiene
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 1/4 cup basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin)
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drain the mozzarella Ciligiene and set them aside.
- Prepare a silicone skull mold by lightly brushing or spraying it with oil.
- Place one mozzarella ball in each skull cavity.
- Place the mold on a small baking sheet and bake for 6 to 8 minutes to soften the cheese.
- Remove the molds from the oven and press each mozzarella ball firmly into the mold using a folded paper towel to absorb excess liquid.
- Place the mold in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes to cool and set the cheese into the skull shape.
- Release the mozzarella skulls by gently pressing from the outside of the mold.
- Thread a mozzarella skull, followed by a folded basil leaf, and a cherry tomato onto a bamboo pick.
- Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the assembled skewers, or serve the balsamic on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the mozzarella is fully pressed to remove excess liquid for a firmer texture.
- These skewers are best served fresh, but you can prepare the mozzarella ahead of time.
- For a different flavor profile, use balsamic glaze instead of balsamic vinegar for a thicker, sweeter taste.
- To prevent wilting, assemble the skewers just before serving.
