Description

Hazelnut Hot Chocolate is a rich, creamy, and indulgent twist on the classic hot chocolate. With the addition of chocolate hazelnut spread, this drink is a comforting treat perfect for cold weather and festive occasions. Topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a fun garnish like a candy cane or Pocky stick, it’s sure to warm both your body and soul.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Irish cream (optional)
  • Whipped cream and chocolate shavings (for topping)
  • Candy canes, peppermint sticks, or Pocky sticks (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, pour in the milk and heat over medium to medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  2. Add the cocoa powder and sugar, and stir until fully dissolved, making sure the mixture is smooth and heated evenly.
  3. Stir in the chocolate hazelnut spread and ground cinnamon. Continue to stir until everything is well combined and the hazelnut spread is fully melted.
  4. If using Irish cream, add it to the saucepan and stir to incorporate. Heat through, but avoid bringing the mixture to a boil.
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
  6. Garnish with a candy cane, peppermint stick, or Pocky stick for a festive touch.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you prefer a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond, oat, or coconut milk.
  • To make the drink richer, consider adding a splash of heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Store any leftover hot chocolate in the fridge for up to 2-3 days and reheat gently before serving.
  • You can customize the sweetness by adjusting the amount of sugar or substituting with honey or maple syrup.
