Description

This Honey Bourbon Cranberry Sauce combines the sweet, tart flavor of fresh cranberries with a hint of bourbon and the smooth sweetness of honey. It’s a simple yet flavorful twist on a holiday classic, perfect for pairing with turkey or as a glaze for meats. This recipe is easy to make and ready in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup bourbon
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of 1/2 orange
  • A pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a pot, over medium heat. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer until the cranberries burst, about 10 minutes.
  2. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Keep in mind the sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if needed. Remove the rosemary sprigs and cinnamon stick.
  4. Let the sauce cool completely, then transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to a week.
  5. Serve chilled, reheated, or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a smoother sauce, use a potato masher or blend it in a food processor after it cools.
  • If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add more honey to taste.
  • This sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
  • If you’re using frozen cranberries, no need to thaw them before cooking.
