Description
Irresistible Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a creamy, flavorful side dish made with sweet potatoes, honey, butter, and cinnamon. This easy recipe creates a luxurious mash perfect for any occasion, from family dinners to holiday feasts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Peel and chop sweet potatoes into uniform chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat. Let the sweet potatoes cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
- Drain the sweet potatoes well, then return them to the pot. Mash them until smooth using a potato masher or ricer.
- Stir in unsalted butter and honey while the sweet potatoes are still warm, allowing the butter to melt into the mash.
- Gradually add milk or cream, stirring until you achieve your desired consistency. Season with salt and cinnamon, mixing well.
- Taste the mashed sweet potatoes and adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute coconut oil for butter and maple syrup for honey.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or swap cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice.
- Make ahead: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently with a little milk or cream.
- For a smoother texture, use a potato ricer instead of a masher.
