Ingredients
Scale
- 9 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup green candy melts
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup green M&M’s or green chocolate candies
- 1/4 cup St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles
- 1/2 cup Lucky Charms marshmallows (optional)
Instructions
- Place the Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl combine the white chocolate chips, green candy melts, and butter.
- Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each round, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
- Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal while gently stirring to coat all pieces evenly.
- Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable bag and add the powdered sugar.
- Seal the bag and shake well until all cereal pieces are evenly coated with powdered sugar.
- Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow it to cool completely so the coating can set.
- Once cooled, place the puppy chow in a large bowl and mix in the green M&M’s, sprinkles, and marshmallows.
- Gently stir to distribute the candies evenly and serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Melt chocolate slowly in short microwave intervals to prevent burning or grainy texture.
- Stir the cereal gently to avoid breaking the pieces.
- Add powdered sugar while the chocolate coating is still slightly warm so it sticks well.
- Store Leprechaun Puppy Chow in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips for a richer flavor variation.
