Description

Orange Creamsicle Truffles are the perfect combination of rich, creamy white chocolate and the fresh, zesty flavor of orange. These bite-sized treats are a delightful twist on the classic truffle, offering a refreshing, citrusy alternative to traditional chocolate truffles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Zest of 1/2 orange
  • 3 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Red and yellow food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and orange zest over low heat. Stir occasionally to release the orange oils into the butter.
  2. Add the heavy cream and heat until it just begins to scald, small bubbles forming around the edges.
  3. Pour the hot cream mixture over the white chocolate chips in a mixing bowl. Press the zest through a fine mesh sieve to release the oils into the mixture.
  4. Add the orange extract and stir the mixture until smooth. Let it rest for 1 minute.
  5. If desired, add food coloring and stir until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the mixture for about 2 hours or until firm enough to handle.
  7. Scoop out heaping teaspoon-sized portions and roll into balls.
  8. Roll the truffles in powdered sugar to coat them evenly.
  9. Freeze for about 20 minutes to firm up the truffles before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If the truffle mixture is too soft, let it chill longer in the refrigerator.
  • Adjust the orange flavor by adding more zest or extract according to your preference.
  • These truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 1 month.
  • For a different coating, try rolling the truffles in desiccated coconut or crushed graham crackers.
