Description

These Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats are an easy no-bake dessert made with crispy rice cereal, browned butter, gooey marshmallows, creamy peanut butter, sweetened condensed milk, and a smooth semisweet chocolate topping. They are soft, chewy, crunchy, and perfect for parties, holidays, bake sales, or an everyday sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 5 ounces jumbo marshmallows (about 1/2 of a 10-ounce bag)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma.
  2. Stir in the peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk until smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted into a glossy mixture.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and gently fold in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased 9×9-inch baking pan and gently press it into an even layer without compacting it too much.
  6. Combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl and melt until smooth, stirring every 20 to 30 seconds.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the cereal mixture using a spatula.
  8. Refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until the chocolate is completely set.
  9. Slice into 16 squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Browning the butter adds a rich caramel-like flavor.
  • Do not overheat the marshmallows, as this can make the treats firm.
  • Press the mixture gently into the pan to keep the bars soft and chewy.
  • Use fresh marshmallows for the best texture.
  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Refrigerate for a firmer texture if desired.
  • Freeze individually wrapped bars for up to 3 months.
