Description

Salted Peppermint Bark is a festive holiday treat made with layers of rich dark chocolate and creamy white chocolate, topped with crushed peppermint and sea salt flakes. It’s a perfect blend of sweet, salty, and minty flavors — easy to make, ideal for gifting, and loved by all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 ounces light cocoa candy melts (or substitute with chocolate chips)
  • 20 ounces white almond bark (or substitute with white chocolate chips or melting wafers)
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (oil-based, optional)
  • 3 ounces crushed peppermint or candy canes
  • 1½ teaspoons sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. In a double boiler or microwave, melt the chocolate, stirring continuously until fully smooth. Spread onto the prepared sheet and let it partially set at room temperature.
  3. Melt the white chocolate using the same method, and stir in peppermint extract if using.
  4. Pour the white chocolate over the partially set chocolate layer and spread evenly.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with crushed peppermint and sea salt flakes.
  6. Allow the bark to set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  7. Cut into pieces using a sharp knife and serve or store.

Notes

  • Pour white chocolate before the base layer fully sets to prevent separation.
  • Use food-safe peppermint extract to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • Crush candy canes in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin for less mess.
  • Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight container.
  • Do not refrigerate unless necessary — may cause condensation and discoloration.
