Description

Strawberry Sando is a light and creamy Japanese fruit sandwich made with soft milk bread, sweetened whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. It’s a no-bake dessert that’s perfect for tea time, picnics, or a quick sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
  • 4 slices milk bread
  • 10 fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and optional vanilla essence until stiff peaks form.
  2. Remove the crusts from the milk bread slices.
  3. Cut the tops off the strawberries and pat them dry.
  4. Spread a layer of whipped cream on one slice of bread.
  5. Arrange three strawberries in a diagonal line and place one strawberry on each side of the center berry, all facing the same direction.
  6. Cover the strawberries with more whipped cream, smoothing it out gently.
  7. Top with the second slice of bread and lightly press without squishing the filling.
  8. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap. Optionally, mark the cutting direction on the wrap.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or freeze for 15 minutes.
  10. Slice along the diagonal strawberry line with a sharp knife and serve.

Notes

  • Use only fresh strawberries for best results.
  • Milk bread is ideal, but brioche or soft white bread can be used.
  • Wrap tightly and chill for cleaner cuts.
  • Enjoy within a few hours of preparation for best texture.
  • Can be made vegan with plant-based cream and bread.
