Description

The tomato sandwich is a simple and delicious recipe that combines fresh tomatoes, creamy mayonnaise, and crunchy bread for a refreshing meal. Perfect for any time of the day, this quick and healthy dish can be enjoyed as a snack, light lunch, or part of a picnic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe tomatoes
  • 4 slices of bread (whole wheat, white, or your preference)
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 12 leaves of lettuce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter (optional, for toasting)

Instructions

  1. Slice the bread to your preferred thickness. If you’re toasting the sandwich, butter the bread slices on the outside.
  2. Toast the bread slices on a skillet until golden and crispy (optional).
  3. Slice the tomatoes thinly and set them aside.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of both slices of bread.
  5. Layer the tomato slices on one slice of bread.
  6. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the tomatoes to enhance their flavor.
  7. Add lettuce for extra crunch (optional).
  8. Place the second slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich.
  9. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Fresh, ripe tomatoes are key to making the best sandwich.
  • If you’re looking for a grilled version, add cheese and grill the sandwich until golden and melted.
  • For a healthier option, use whole grain bread instead of white bread.
  • Store any leftover sandwich in an airtight container for up to 1 day (best consumed fresh).
